Goodyear Withdraws from Specialty Chemical Production The U.S.-based tire manufacturer, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, has announced the closure of its remaining chemical production facilities in the United States. The affected sites are located in Niagara Falls, New York, and Bayport, Texas. The decision was officially announced on October 1, 2026, as part of the company’s strategic realignment. Goodyear had previously divested significant portions of its chemical business in October 2025. The closure of the Niagara Falls site also marks the end of production for the antioxidants and rubber additives marketed under the POLYSTAY® brand—a product line that included POLYSTAY® 29.
POLYSTAY® 29 - An Established Antioxidant
POLYSTAY® 29 is an antioxidant based on styrenated diphenylamine (SDPA), primarily used for the stabilization of polymers. The product protects materials against thermal and oxidative degradation and is utilized in a variety of industrial applications. With Goodyear’s withdrawal from chemical production, existing customers now face the challenge of securing their long-term raw material supply and qualifying suitable alternative sources.
