The support of young talent within an apprenticeship has been an integral part of MCC for many years. Thanks to the HKBiS Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, our Managing Director, Jan Menssing, has been an officially AEVO-certified trainer since 1 December 2025. He is not the only one who is delighted that he can now personally train young people in the interesting and varied profession of wholesale and foreign trade management. This is also an important step for MCC as a training company in Hamburg.
What apprenticeship does Jan supervise at MCC?
At MCC, we offer training as a wholesale and foreign trade management assistant with a focus on foreign trade. A professional field that offers international opportunities and creates a solid foundation for a future in chemical wholesale.
With his training certificate (AEVO), Jan Menssing can now personally supervise this apprenticeship in wholesale and foreign trade. Together with our team, he ensures a structured onboarding process, teaches commercial fundamentals and supports trainees through practical stages in procurement, sales, logistics and administration.
The profession combines economic understanding, international communication, logistics and supply chain management. For many young people, it is an attractive entry point into global trade and for us, it is an opportunity to educate well-trained young professionals for the chemical industry.
All of this combined provides our trainees with greater insight, more first-hand expertise and a direct insight into the processes of an internationally connected trading company.
How long does the training to become a wholesale and foreign trade specialist take?
Training in wholesale and foreign trade management at MCC usually takes three years. Depending on performance and educational background, the training period can be shortened.
At MCC, we actively support motivated trainees if a reduction in duration appears appropriate and accompany them in their learning, exams and everyday work. The combination of practical work in an international environment and clear learning structures ensures that the training path remains easy to plan.
What does a wholesale and foreign trade specialist do during their training?
Training in wholesale and foreign trade is varied and practice-oriented. Typical areas of responsibility include, for example:
- Purchasing & supplier management:
comparing offers, preparing orders, communicating with international partners - Sales & customer contact:
processing enquiries, checking orders, coordinating delivery dates - Logistics & flow of goods:
planning transport routes, understanding customs processes, managing supply chains - Administration & data management:
creating documents, maintaining goods movements in the system
In a specialised environment such as chemical wholesale, trainees learn from the outset in real day-to-day business and gain deep insight into an exciting, international environment. The result is a career start with clear prospects. Not only at MCC, but throughout the chemical industry.
When does the training programme in Hamburg start?
The regular start date for the apprenticeship programme for wholesale and foreign trade management is in August every year.
However, applications are accepted by MCC throughout the year.
