EcoVadis certification: MCC strengthens its sustainability

In March 2024, we participated in the EcoVadis assessment for the first time and received the status “EcoVadis Committed”. Now, with the new review completed on 25 November, we officially fulfilled the requirements for the bronze medal and can note a significant improvement: The new MCC rating scores 67 out of 100 points (+13 Points).

This places us among the top 35 percent of the assessed companies and secures us the EcoVadis bronze medal for the first time. Particularly strong progress was made in the areas of labour and human rights, as well as sustainable procurement. In those areas, we have enhanced our measures and guidelines in a targeted approach and documented our efforts more precisely.

We are naturally delighted that our measures are already taking effect and have been firmly established in our day-to-day business. At the same time, this is not the end of our journey. It shows us clearly what we have improved and where we can continue to make progress. We will use this feedback as an opportunity to further expand our processes and goals in the coming year.

Why the EcoVadis certification matters

EcoVadis is widely used as an international framework for assessing sustainability performance. The rating looks at 21 different criteria across four main areas:

  • Environmental management
  • Labour and human rights
  • Ethics
  • sustainable procurement

Particularly in the chemical and coatings industry, where requirements, documentation obligations and expectations are constantly increasing along the entire supply chain, the assessment provides clear guidance. It does not only help our customers and partners to better understand how we work, but also confirms in-house that our most important processes and guidelines comply with EcoVadis standards.

What EcoVadis certification means?

EcoVadis certification gives companies the ability to:

  • Independently benchmark themselves against international sustainability standards
  • provide better transparency for customers, partners and stakeholders
  • understand where processes perform well and identify potential improvements
  • understand the international supply chain requirements better
  • strengthen and structure their ESG strategy further

For us, the rating creates clarity about where we are well positioned and where we want to make targeted improvements. The bronze rating is a solid starting point. Our goal remains to consistently develop our sustainability performance, strengthen structures and integrate regulatory requirements at an early stage.
